Shops And Commercial Establishments Act 1961 Overview

Kerala shop and establishment act is an Act to consolidate and amend the law relating to the regulation of conditions of work and employment in the shops and commercial establishments in the State of Kerala. It extends to the whole State of Kerala and applies to all shops and commercial establishments except those specifically exempted under the Act. Every employer of an establishment should make an online application in Form B 1 with treasury receipt showing that the prescribed fee has been paid to the competent authority within thirty days from the date of commencement of its work. The competent authority shall if satisfied register the establishment and issue a registration certificate in Form B II.

Details required for taking Kerala Shops and Commercial Establishments Registration

  • The name of the employer and the manager, if any
  • The postal address of the establishment
  • The name, if any, of the establishment
  • The category of the establishment, that is to say whether it is a shop or a commercial establishment
  • The number and names of employees employed in the establishment

Procedure of Registration

  • Fill up the online application in Form B1
  • Online challan has to be remitted with the prescribed fee according the number of employees in the Establishment
  • Submit the application after making the payment
